冬期湛水(とうきたんすい)
今日は久々に気持ちのいい青空の海老名耕地です。
来年へ向けて土づくりがスタートしています。
冬の田んぼに水が張っている光景はなかなか見ないのではないでしょうか。
冬期湛水をすることで土中の微生物が活性化し、稲わらや根を分解してとろとろにしてくれます。また水生昆虫のすみかや、カモなどの野鳥が羽を休める場所にもなります。
この取り組みは田んぼの用水路を管理する左岸土地改良区と神奈川県庁と弊社で行っています。
全国的に用水路の水利権などの関係で実現することが容易でないこの「冬期湛水」を行えていることは大変感謝すべきことでもあります。
環境保全も重視した持続可能な農業を皆様のご協力のもと続けて行きます。

“Winter Flooding (Tōki Tansui)”
It’s a beautifully clear blue sky today over the Ebina rice fields.
Our soil preparation for next year has already begun.
Seeing rice paddies filled with water in winter is not something you often come across.
By keeping water in the fields during winter, microorganisms in the soil become active, breaking down rice straw and roots and turning the soil rich and soft.
These flooded paddies also provide habitats for aquatic insects and resting places for wild birds such as ducks.
This initiative is made possible through cooperation between the Left Bank Land Improvement District, Kanagawa Prefectural Government, and our company.
Because of water rights and irrigation management, winter flooding is not easy to achieve nationwide, so we are deeply grateful to be able to practice it here.
With everyone’s support, we will continue to pursue sustainable agriculture that values environmental conservation.
