Seminar on Japanese sake at Camp Zama
On Friday, March 21st, we had the pleasure of being invited by the Zama Community Spouses Association (ZaCSA) at Camp Zama to hold a brief seminar on Japanese sake.
During the session, we provided an overview of the basics of sake, including its ingredients and classification, as well as the history and products of Izumibashi Sake Brewery. We concluded with a tasting session. Although I was a bit nervous conducting the seminar without an interpreter, the participants listened attentively, and we had a wonderful time engaging in conversation.
We received many insightful questions, such as “Does sake have an expiration date?”, “What types of sake are suitable for warming or aging?”, and “What should I look for on the label when choosing a sake I like?” It was truly gratifying to see everyone’s enthusiasm and interest in Japanese sake.
